If your application is a Paid App or contains In-App Purchases (IAP), you must configure License Testing. This allows your testers to "purchase" your app or items without being charged real money.
Open Google Play Console
Go to your dashboard:
Open Settings
From the left sidebar, navigate to:
Choose Tester Type
You will see 2 options:
- Email lists
- Google Groups
(This is the best and easiest method for managing multiple testers simultaneously)
Add Google Group Email
Inside the "Email addresses" box, enter your testing group email:
ClosedTestHelp@googlegroups.com
Then press Enter to confirm the email.
Keep License Response Default
Under License response, select:
RESPOND_NORMALLY
✅ Leave it as default.
Save Changes
Click the Save changes button at the bottom of the page to apply the settings.
Giving Access to Testers
Once your license testing and closed testing tracks are set up and approved by Google, you need to provide the Opt-in link to your testers.
Closed testing → [Your Track] → Testers → Scroll down to "How testers join your test" → Copy the Web link or Android link.
Sharing this link with your testers (or our team at ClosedTestHelp) allows them to officially join the track and begin the 14-day requirement.
